IoT Solutions World Congress starts today in Barcelona, as protests in Catalonia continue

Catalonia has been suffering from two weeks of protests over the prison sentences handed to nine Catalan pro-independence leaders.

“No one has been killed, no shots have been fired and no bombs have been dropped: yet the leader of one of Spain’s main political parties described the scenes last week in Barcelona, where demonstrators poured onto the streets in protest against the jailing of nine Catalan independence leaders, as reminiscent of Syria and Iraq.” says British journalist John Carlin on The Times.

While some protests continue, Fira Barcelona, the conference managing organization, and the Industrial Internet Consortium, expect the IoT Congress and other parallel shows to proceed without incident.
